Dust and Decay Found Poem
The first night;
the day that the dead had rose
Dead human beings who were reanimated, clumsy and slow,
who do not think
A plague started by radiation, virus, bioweapon, toxic waste, solar flares or an act of God
The dead rose,
and the living perished
The old world was consumed by an ongoing hell of paranoia, fear, and violence
Everyone was helpless and hopeless
Mangled by bites
Moans like a lost soul
A reflection of yourself in the eyes of the dead,
small and washed out,
with all trace of humanity and personality snuffed out like a match
A bell that can’t unring
Dead forever
Quited
Quiet nights
Summer flights
And the moon alone looks down.
Watching out
With a silent pout
And the moon alone looks down.
Half the ocean
Covered in white
As the moon alone looks down;
And Pleiades bright
Till morning’s end
And the moon alone looks down.
Solstice time leads
to dreams of dust
And the blazing moon shines down
To those of us
With open eyes…
And the moon’s sweet glory burns.
Silence is the slowest form of suicide
Silence is what keeps us apart
Silence is the scream that everyone shouts
Silence is the lost dream we all have
Silence is the blood we all have spilled
Silence is what keeps us together
Silence is god in the air
Silence is the death you can bear
Silence is the reason you care
Silence is what creeps upon you at night
Silence is the chills in your spine
Silence is the reason
And the only reason
Why you haven't said these words yourself
You'll never understand me
That normal girl you think you see
I should stop trying to please you
Trying to be who you want me to be
You make me a liar, a coward, and a fake
Some days this facade is more than I can take
Still it seems you want to pretend
That I'm an innocent sheep, and not a rattlesnake
But how come it seems you are the only one
That gets to show their true self, have the fun
And I'm a lowly pile of trash
Undeserving of the sun
You make me feel like a doll
I bend and twist, for you I fall
Down to the place where my memories lie
But you don't want to hear them at all
Do you? No
I try, but there's only so far I

Where Sorrow is Sweet and the Raven Speaks
The pen in my hand flows like a gentle river
the ink splashing the paper as a wave upon the beach
golden chains and dew drop pearls, frankincense and myrrh
To be lost in the world of writing is better than all riches
where sorrow is sweet and the raven speaks
pencils are like knives, the keyboard is your gun
granted with its power, you can protect or corrupt as you please
wear a mask, remain nameless, but be someone
A swallow swoops from the mantle of sky
to land tenderly by the window, a letter in her beak
she taps the glass, and look up do I
I push back the dusty curtains and take the envelope to read
Tis' a challenge I see written befor
Peering out the window of the invisible box she made
Gazing at the crowd that's thinking, 'silence suffocates'
Her smile had been taken as a reason to believe
And hope that maybe one day mimes would learn to speak
She'd been hiding behind the bruises, too afraid to ask for help
Even the paint on her sad face said she'd finally lost herself
Admission to this freakshow was more than commonsense
The mission was to find a friend who'd teach her how to vent
When she let somebody in
It only took a second for the cardboard to cave in
Preparing for the crowd's embrace, she let go of her past
She took a breath and made the choice,

Music Box-Sing You to Sleep
Sing me a song, I'll sing you to sleep
Here in my arms is where you should be
When the stars are their brightest, it seems
All that's left here for you is me
And when darkness supresses our dreams
All that's left here for you is me
So what'll it be?
Will you stay here with me?
We've opened up a music box
And somehow you're the melody surrounding us
Our hands clasped so tightly together
Is it possible to dance forever, like this?
And if we kiss...
When the stars are their brightest, it seems
All that's left here for you is me
And when darkness supresses our dreams
All that's left here for you is me
You swept me off of my feet
